Ash Wednesday is a sacred day in the liturgical calendar, and it marks the beginning of our Lenten journey. On Ash Wednesday, Christians around the world are marked with the ashes of palm leaves as a reminder that as human beings we come from God’s holy dust, and to God’s holy dust we shall return. As we recognize this day together, we take a moment to pray for guidance in our lives, and we thank God for our breath, our life, our days.
There will be two opportunities to receive ashes on Ash Wednesday this year. Pastor Jenn will be working with Rev Rob Stevens and Rev Aaron Jenkyn from St John’s Episcopal church to offer “Ashes to Go” in Market Square between 7-9:30 a.m. on February 13, 2024. You may also come in for ashes between 2-4 p.m. on that same day. If you would like to receive ashes to self-impose, please reach out to Pastor Jenn!
